One 100 Kronur Coin | 100 Kronur と書かれた１枚のコイン

When I was working the other day, my assistant store manager found a foreign coin on the floor. He handed it to me and assigned me to find out which country's currency. His guess was the coin was from somewhere in the Caribbean, like the Bahamas.

The coin said:
100 KR, EITT HUNDRAD KRONUR, ISLAND 2006.

Until now, I didn't realise that there was a " ´ " accent on the top of "I" of "ISLAND," so that it is supposed to be "ÍSLAND." So, I got it all now.

The coin was from Iceland or ÍSLAND (pronounced as ees-land).

バイトでの出来事。アシスタントストアマネージャーが外国のコインを見つけたといい、僕に見せ、手渡しながら、「どこの国か調べてよ」と訳もわからなく頼まれてしまい、宿題になった。そのマネージャーの推測は「カリブの国のどこかじゃないか？」だった。

コインには

と書かれてある。

見たこともない綴りの言葉、ついさっき、「ISLAND」と書かれた言葉の上にアクセント記号があることを発見した。その言葉は「ISLAND」ではなく「ÍSLAND」だったのだ！
