カセットテープ | Cassette Tape

僕が音楽に初めて興味を持ったのは、ファミコンのゲーム音楽だった。
小学４年か５年だった。

使わないのに父が購入したウォークマンがあって、カセットテープ版のドラゴンクエストⅢのサウンドトラックを買ってもらったのだった。

中学１年になり、CDラジカセを誕生日のプレゼントにお願いした。
日本語以外の曲を聞き出したのもこの辺りだろうか。

New Kids on the BlockとかNeverending Storyの主題歌とかMetallicaとか。（笑）

中学３年くらいから、友達同士で、自分の好きな曲をCDやラジオから選曲して入れたカセットテープを交換し始めたのだった。

技術の進歩で、カセットテープからミニディスク（MD）になり、その後、CDを簡単に焼けるようになった。
iPodが主流になった今、わざわざCDを焼いたりしない。でもいまだに、僕は自分が選曲したCDを好きな人たちに贈るのが好きである。僕が繰り返し聞いている曲でも、聞く人が変われば新しいコメントをするのが面白い。

形のないものを贈ることをいつまでも無くしたくないものだと思う。


When I became interested in music first time in my life, it was a soundtrack of Nintendo video game.
I think it was grade 4 or 5.

One day, I asked my dad to buy me a cassette tape version of Dragon Quest Ⅲ soundtrack. My dad had a Walkman but he rarely used it anyway.

When I entered junior high, I asked my parents to get me a CD radio cassette player for my birthday.
I think this was the time when I started to listen to English songs as well – New Kids on the Block, Neverending story theme, Metallica, and so on (lol).

Around grade 9 or so, I started to exchange cassette tapes that were recorded with our own favourite tunes of music from CD and radio between friends.

Because of technological advancement, the recording medium has been changed from cassette tape, to Mini Disk (MD) and then we started to burn a CD later. We use iPod nowadays, we don't even burn a CD anymore, either. In contrary, I personally still like to send a CD with my tunes as a gift. It's interesting when I hear different comments and opinions on a song that I listen repeatedly.

I don't want to give up sending a non-materialistic gift forever.
