Minus 28 ºC and Vomiting

Oh, how intense the Calgary weather it gets!

Last Sunday's high was plus 12 and last Friday's low was minus 28. You can easily imagine that.

I am somewhat very sensitive to temperature change. In fact, I constantly got sick first a few years after I moved to Toronto because I didn't get used to the temperature change in Toronto. In Calgary, it is far worse than in Toronto.

I knew the weather would dramatically change last Thursday from the weather forecast. I thought I prepared for it.

I tend to eat a lot (more than I can handle) especially when it gets colder and is in the winter. Of course, I did eat a lot then on Thursday night. I set an alarm clock at 6:15 to be in the 9:00 class and went to bed around 11:00. I prepared for the next day very well. At least, I thought that was enough.

In the middle of the night (I didn't remember what time it was), I woke up with pain in my tummy. At the beginning, I tried to ignore the pain and keep sleeping, but I finally got up because I couldn't resist and went to the bathroom. For a few moments, I didn't know what to do and stood still in front of the sink. My tummy was still aching and I realised which part of the body the pain was coming from. It was from my upper stomach. Soon after the realisation, I wanted to puke. So, I did until my stomach was emptied totally. I didn't like the sensation of vomiting and the smell and taste! I didn't feel well, but I brushed my teeth and rinse my mouth with Listerine.

Next morning, when I woke up, it was 7:00 something. I didn't still feel well and it was minus 28 according to CBC Radio 1, so I didn't go to the class.

I feel much better now and I can relax a bit because I don't have classes and placements because we have a reading week.

I hate being sick!

I'm very happy your illness takes the form of rebellion from your stomach/mouth. I'd hate to read your descriptions should the response be from the, ah, "other end."

Hey, -28 is fairly warm for a cold winter's day in Calgary. You're lucky :)

Glad you're feeling better.
