My First Bank Account in Canada

I recieved tax return today. The amount of the return was quite good because of my super poor low income and my full-time student status. I don't think my small amount of RRSP contribute to the return much (better than nothing though – I want to laugh when I get retired although I will have to work till 70 years old for sure).

Prior to submitting my return form, I changed the bank account for my direct deposit from Revenue Canada. The previous account was the one that I opened when I moved to Canada. I kept the account until now only for a reason that it was my first bank account in Canada. I told M about it before and he told me that it was useless and waste of money to pay the maintenance fee every month. What M told me was exactly right.

I just wanted to keep it, but I think I should cut it off because I don't have enough money to keep two chequing accounts and yes, it is useless.

I will close the account as soon as I arrive in Toronto.

i'm like you ... a little bit sentimental about things. however, i'm rarely sentimental about money things... but i understand the feeling of wanting to hang on to something that you got when you first arrived. it's like some sort of connection to the innocent you that arrived here.

but it's only a friggn' bank account. ;)
