Toronto International Film Festival

I have been in Toronto for 10 years, but I had never been to see any movies during the festival.
(It is just a hassle to get a ticket to the show.)

My friend called me up and told me that she has a ticket that she can't go.
I decided to go immediately.
(Went to my friend's place to get the ticket and arrived at the theatre 15 minutes before opening.

It was the first time at the festival! Yay.

People were rather too noisy. I started to wonder why. I would know the reason after entering the theatre.

The movie was at the Ryerson Theatre. Ticket holder line was terribly long.
(From the entrance on Gerrard to Church Street, going straight down to the Gould and the going into the south side of Ryerson Campus.)

I started to worry if I couldn't enter.
I asked a guy at the end of the line – "Is this the end of line for the ticket holder?"
At the same time, there were 2 Japanese women arrived. I foamed a line after them.

I entered the theatre! I am all excited. There was a MC on the stage and he spoke something and then introduced the main actor and director of the movie! I am amazed to see them in Toronto. On the stage, both the actor and the directo made a comment and a joke in Japanese and the interpreter read out the translations prepared before hand.

The movie that I saw is "Detroit Metal City." The original story from a comic (the same name) that I have never read. I don't know any differences between the comic and the movie, but I did simply enjoy it!

The animation in the opening credits is quite nicely done.
If you want a little lough with noisy sounds, I will highly recommend this movie.

Shibuya-kei Pop songs movement and Death Metal – it was a quite nice comparison to make a comedy.

This movie has released in Japan lately and Toronto showing was the first time outiside of Japan.

I have never been to a show either at the TIFF -- same reason: the ticket buying process is just too annoying.

So a friend called today and had access to good tickets to a movie tomorrow, did I want to go. Yes, says me. Then NO says me -- $40 for a movie ticket.

Sheesh.

Luckily, mine was a free ticket... I would have thought like you did if the ticket wasn't free and 40 dollars.
