Boxing Day Sale and Windows Vista

I went for a Boxing Day sale shopping with my friend.

In these days, as you know, the economy is really bad. I didn't see as many people as last year.

What my friend was looking for was a laptop.
When someone uses a big amount of money, I get excited although it is not my purchase.

I think my friend made a good purchase. Specification of the laptop he got is great deal with the price.

We came back to his apartment and started to set up.
When my friend opened the box and I get all excited again. lol.

The laptop he bouhgt had Windows Vista installed.

I have never done a Windows set up, but I noticed a difference immediately. I started to feel it's taking more than twice as much time to set up a new Mac.

I use Windows XP at work and I am accoustomed to using it but it seems to be heavier and slower with Vista as I heard before.

Later day, I asked my friend how the set up went.
He told me that he has a problem of connecting his a little older degital video camera to his new laptop. His camera can be connected via USB or FireWire, but there is no FireWire port on his new laptop. He needs to use USB port, but he complains that he can't find a driver software for Vista on the camera's manufacturer's website.

Is it better to newly install XP to his new laptop then?

When MacOS X was first introduced, we had so many problems. There weren't enough peripherels and applications that were built for OS X. This my friend's Vista problem sounds very similar to the OS X introduction.

I hope his set up for Vista going well though.
