運転教習 | Driving Lessons

こんな真冬（氷点下１０度は軽く下回っています）に歩行者天国。

こんな真冬の屋外にパティオ用テーブルと椅子。

今日、運転の教習を受け始めた。

カナダでは教習所などなく、公道で練習する。

はっきり言って怖い。

車を持っていない僕なので、Young Drivers of Canadaの教習パッケージのインストラクターが乗ってくる車で練習する。僕のインストラクターはタバコ臭いおじさんで、車はトヨタのRAV4だった。９０分強のレッスン終了後、自分の家まで自分で運転した。もちろんインストラクターは僕の代わりにブレーキをかけ、僕がハンドルを切るのを横から補助し、僕に指示を与える。ミラーを見る暇もなく、周りを十分に見てもいなかった。

次回は来週土曜日。鍋のふたでハンドルをきる練習をし、次回の運転ではもっと目を動かしながら、運転しないといけない。

I started my in-car driving lesson today.

In Canada, we don't have a closed courses & circuits to practice driving so we practice on regular public streets.

Yes, it is obviously scary.

I don't have a car, so I practice on my instructor's car as a part of Young Drivers of Canada lessons. My instructor was a guy who smelled like cigarettes and his car was Toyota RAV4.

After finishing 90 minutes+ lesson, I drove to my home, of course with my instructor's help. My instructor helped me brake, steer left ad right from the side, and gave me directions and instructions. I regretted that I didn't check mirrors and I didn't look around enough.

The next lesson will be next Saturday. I will practice steering with a lid of a frying pan and I will need to pay more attentions to mirrors and the surroundings.
